Colorimetry Assessment

Step 1: Comprehensive eye examination

Before diving into the assessment, our Optometrists will conduct a thorough eye examination to rule out any underlying vision problems and determine the most accurate prescription for your lenses. If you have recently had an eye examination, let us know at the time of booking and we can instead schedule you for a brief consultation regarding Colorimetry with one of our Assessment Specialists. An optometrist should be consulted at least every two years, especially when vision problems are experienced!

Step 2: Pre-screening test (FREE)

Take the test at VisualStress.app. The pre-screening test is a discovery tool that gives you a better understanding of Visual Stress, your situation and the likelihood that you suffer and will benefit from a complete assessment. The system produces a report, provides resources to help address symptoms and elaborates on the next steps. Select LivingHope Vision as your clinic!

Step 3: Visual Stress Assessment

The Visual Stress Assessment includes several tests to establish the existence of Visual Stress and to identify the impact of colour. Independent tests for pattern sensitivity, perceptual distortions, and rate of reading improvement are performed to confirm the diagnosis of Visual Stress, identify visual triggers, and capture their perceptual distortions. During the assessment, visual environmental modifications and accommodations are identified and recommended, and a report is produced.

Step 4: Intuitive Colorimeter Assessment™

The Intuitive Colorimeter™ is a medical instrument that systematically and independently samples hue (360 degrees of colour), saturation (50 degrees of saturation), and luminance (4 levels of brightness). This helps determine the precise colour to reduce sensitivities and difficulties related to Visual Stress.

Step 5: Tint update

Over time, you may experience changes in the effectiveness of your precision-tinted lenses. Your first reaction may be to stop wearing them, but this is not the solution. Your visual system changes over time just like your eyes do. Most people need to update their vision prescription every few years. The same goes for your precision tint. A tint update is usually required when:

- Your prescription changes;

- Your brain chemistry changes (e.g. puberty, pregnancy, menopause, medications or other);

- Healing after an accident (e.g. concussion, TBI, etc.);

- When the visual environment becomes more tolerable; or

- When the tint fades over time, from exposure to UV light, or lens cleaning. This is a natural process that occurs with lens tints but often goes unnoticed since the tint lightens as you become more tolerant to the visual triggers.

IMPORTANT: Only use a mild dish soap and lukewarm water with a clean microfiber cloth to wash your lenses. Never use chemicals or any lens spray or cleaners containing alcohol based solutions.

Once we've identified the exact wavelengths of your ideal colour filter, your precision tinted lenses will be ordered. The lenses are produced using specialized medical tints that match the results you had during your assessment with the Intuitive Colorimeter™.

These lenses have a smooth transmission curve and will help reduce discomfort from harsh lights or screens, improve tolerance to your visual triggers, improve the efficiency with which you can complete visual tasks, and improve your overall quality of life.

Precision tinted lenses can be ordered with or without prescriptions:

- Plano (no prescription)

- Single vision reading

- Single vision distance

- Lined bifocal

- Progressive

- Prism or

- Contact lenses

Options for wearing the lenses include the following:

1) Regular ophthalmic frames

2) Custom clip-ons

3) Fit-over frames

4) Specialized contact lenses

Since your brains and eyes change over time, you will require a tint re-evaluation every few years to ensure that your customized tint remains optimal.
