    Qualifying Medical Conditions

    OHIP covers exams related to the following conditions:

    • Diabetes

    • Glaucoma

    • Cataracts requiring referral or surgery

    • Sudden retinal disease

    • Corneal ulcer

    • Keratoconus

    • Sudden or progressive optic nerve disease

    • Sudden onset strabismus (eye turn)

    • Active uveitis flare-up

    Covered Medications

    If you are taking any of the following medications, you may qualify for annual OHIP coverage:

    • Chloroquine

    • Hydroxychloroquine

    • Ethambutol

    • Tamoxifen

    No Longer Covered by OHIP

    • Stable strabismus or amblyopia

    • Prediabetes

    • Glaucoma suspect or narrow angles

    • Stable, long-standing, or previously treated retinal conditions

    • Cataracts not requiring referral or surgery

    • MEE referral forms from your family doctor

     

    Please bring a valid OHIP card to every appointment.


    Advanced testing and additional services are not covered by OHIP.  If any are recommended, patients are responsible for the additional charges.

  • Any services not covered under your OHIP benefits will be discussed with you prior to scheduling your appointment, so you can make an informed decision about your care. If you have any questions regarding fees, our team is happy to assist.

     

    For your convenience, we offer direct billing to most major insurance providers. Please note that coverage varies depending on your individual plan. We recommend contacting your insurance provider before your visit to confirm your eligibility, coverage limits, and benefit details.
